Thank you for this! I majored in French in college, have been there several times, and took a lot of classes on culture, and the issue really is a lack of understanding between the groups that their cultures aren't the same. As Americans, we assume that all other cultures work like ours, but really, what we usually find is that when we are respectful and mindful of the culture of a place we visit, that culture becomes far more accommodating. A French person might pretend they don't speak English until someone makes an awful attempt to communicate in French. All of a sudden, the English comes out, and just because you tried to meet them half-way. Great advice for students, travelers, and anyone who thinks the French are rude or snobbish.

Hi Nicole.
Thanks for the note. I had a small problem with the code. I've also added more direct links to the conversion charts.

Hey Ted--

I was unable to find a link to click on. Is there something wrong with the link? Or just me...?

Thanks!

Ted,

I have just spent the entire morning laughing my head off at your blogs. All this time I was wondering how you were doing (this is what prompted me to Google you (sorry..I should have yahoo-ed)...and in a single morning, I have rediscovered all the sites, smells, strikes, and frustrations of living in Paris...as well as the beauty and charm that you have described so well.

While I know you are still only an email away, I have missed you.

Je t'embrasse bien fort et te souhaite mes meilleurs voeux pour 2008.
